MOD Design Store Opens at the Basement Level 1 of the Macau Tourism and Cultural Activities Center

February 05, 2013 12:15:45

Spaces and Facilities

Under the administrative policy of the MSAR Government, which is eager to spur the development of local cultural and creative industries, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Macao rearranged and reused its available space resources, freeing up some for the private sector to set up cultural and creative venues for the continued development of local cultural and creative industries. In November, 2011, the Bureau invited businesses from the industries to bid for the contract to open a store, dedicated to selling local cultural and creative products, at the basement level 1 of the Macau Tourism and Cultural Activities Center. The contract eventually went to MO-DESIGN LDA, which opened MOD Design Store operating from February 25, 2012.

MOD Design Store not only showcases and sells local creative products, but also introduces quality products from abroad and organizes exhibitions to encourage an exchange of ideas. The store regards itself as an interactive platform for promoting design concepts and showcasing the ideas of local designers and their products, aiming to infuse design trends into life, so that the city can be fully immersed in an atmosphere of fashion. Moreover, it introduces top-notch, creative products from around the world to help the local design industry stay in sync with their international counterparts. In short, the establishment of MOD Design Store marks the beginning of “the New Wave of Design in Macao.” It combines the city’s unique culture and innovative design concepts to formulate new brand concepts, hence establishing itself as Macao’s new icon of design.
