18/06/2021

The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC, from the Portuguese acronym) is accepting applications for the “9th Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making” from today until 26 August. A maximum of eight candidates (groups) will be selected after the initial review and second review and each selected candidate (group) will be granted a subsidy of up to MOP170,000 for sample production and promotional materials.

IC has been promoting the Subsidy Programme for Fashion Design on Sample Making since 2013, aimed at promoting the innovation of local fashion design, encouraging fashion designers to draw up feasible and optimized business plans, allowing the industry to develop commercial activities or participate in fashion activities at home and abroad, and enhancing the popularity and market competitiveness of the local fashion design industry, thus continuing to promote the development of the Macao's fashion design industry.

Applicants must be a Macao resident and be 18 years old or above. Applicants can apply on an individual or group basis (max. two persons). The selection process is divided in two stages: initial review and second review. For the initial review, applicants must submit original and unpublished fashion design drawings of their creation. The adjudicating panel will select a maximum of 15 entries for the second review based on six criteria: creativity and originality, market potential, quality, overall visual effect, feasibility and degree of perfection of the exhibition plan and business plan, and budgeting rationale. Each candidate (group) selected for the second review will be granted an allowance of up to MOP12,000 to produce a fashion sample based on the drawings submitted for the initial review, and present the sample to the adjudicating panel with help from a model of their choice. The adjudicating panel will, according to the aforementioned criteria, select a maximum of eight candidates (groups) to receive a subsidy of up to MOP170,000 each, covering the costs for the series of the selected entries such as production of samples and promotional materials.

The Programme’s information, application rules and application forms can be obtained and downloaded from IC’s website (www.icm.gov.mo). Applicants should submit the completed application forms and all required documents to the Division for Planning and Developing Cultural and Creative Industries of the Cultural Affairs Bureau (Cultural Affairs Bureau Building, Tap Siac Square, Macao) during the designated period of time.
