Jointly with “Naomi Studio” and “Pat Culture and Art”, Humarish Club is excited to present the first solo exhibition of contemporary artist Chen Wei Ting "Will See You Again" in Macau starting from 23rd June, 2023. The exhibition features significant paintings, poems and sculptures series created by the artist in recent years.

“If personal experience can reflect itself, I think drawing and writing are a kind of slice of self.” In his creations, the Artist used a lot of childhood memories and symbolic figures such as teddy bears, antique toys, intuitive graffiti drawings, costume characters and so on. His painting started as diary recordings, which tends to be in a written form. This writing is more like an interpretation of his work. "What is painting?” He often asks himself this question, which constantly deconstructs and constructs his thoughts. Specifically, the Artist is drove instinctively to write about these fragments of his childhood, like words and poems in images, figurative but present. He still remembers the moment in his childhood, when he was watching television and playing by himself with toys, which he still keeps, all alone in the room. Maybe, this kind of childhood experience is common in the era of declining birthrate, and some might share the same feeling—longing to play with someone and growing up without noticing the desire.
The Artist points out that his personal experience is a characteristic of his generation. He writes the feelings he encounters unclearly, but intuitively and willfully awakening the utter innocence in his mind. He strongly believes that creation is the only way he converses with the world. This exhibition “Will See You Again” is in contrast to last year's. The artist has experienced losses of his grandfather and two mentoring teachers last year, and gradually adjusted his state of mind during the creation process. It seems that the moon and the sun are alternating in his paintings. Content of these creations is a farewell to certain phases of life for the artist, or a blessing in a way. And the artist understands that all changes in the world are unpredictable. By the name “Will See You Again”, this exhibition also shows the view of the artist's inner world, characters in his works including: bear, candle dog, goat, apple, flower, balloon, sun and moon. These creatures all point to the core value of life "Growth and Degradation", each character gives all out to pursue their own meaning of life, perhaps the "Tao" of life.
