Solo Exhibition of Japanese Contemporary Artist Kumano Umi – "Invisible Planet"

To support the “ART MACAO”, Humarish Club collaborates with “KOTARO NUKAGA” to present the first solo exhibition of “Invisible Planet” by the Japanese contemporary artist Kumano Umi in Macau starting from 25th August, 2023. The exhibition features 40 significant paintings created by the artist in recent years.

“Art Macao”, an international art event organized by the Macao Special Administrative Region Government integrating resources from various sectors in the S.A.R., aimed at congregating global creative forces to produce a city-wide signature biennale event, creates a co-production model in which Government, enterprises, artists and the public are involved in the participation to shape a new local cultural tourism brand, so as to develop Macao into a dazzling international platform for artistic exchanges and promote the development of “culture +”. 

“Invisible Planet” depicts the story of an invisible planet in different spaces that exists inner side of each human, invisible to the naked eyes. In our contemporary society, the boundary between chaotic reality and illusion is gradually becoming blurred. Advances in technology have enabled us the cognition to alternate back and forth between reality and fantasy, and to connect with others anywhere. Today, the borders of countries are becoming more and more meaningless, humans living on the earth are the planet resident who accept changes in diverse values. In the unsettling experiences of unpredictable natural disasters and wars, humans are dealing with anxiety and loneliness, teetering on the borderline between reality and illusion. This exhibition hopes to reflect the human society in pursuit of happiness through the story of a mysterious and unknown planet. This invisible planet is another infinite world that exists in the hyper dimensional space seated inside of each human.
