To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Taipa Village Cultural Association, the association is proud to present "Walking Culture 2.0 – Outdoor and Indoor Collective Exhibition". Returning for its second edition, this showcase features a curated selection of works by 14 distinguished artists who have exhibited in Taipa Village throughout the past decade. The exhibition is sponsored by the Cultural Development Fund of the Macao SAR. Featured artists include:
- graffiti pioneer P.I.B.G.;
- photographers Chan Hin Lo, Leong Man Pan and Rusty Fox;
- Portuguese illustrators Ricardo Lima, André Carrilho and Ana Aragão;
- Macau illustrator Yang Sio Maan;
- artist Fan Sai Hong;
- Chinese painting masters Lio Man Cheong and Chao Lok Leng;
- fashion designer Clara Brito;
- and visual/conceptual artists Crystal W. M. Chan and Bianca Lei Sio-Chong.
As a distinctive art showcase for Taipa Village Cultural Association, this breakout exhibition brings together a rare combination of outdoor art installations and interior displays of selected works by 14 individual talents from Macau and across the world, creating a visual spectacle richly endowed with cultural heritage, interactivity and art appreciation. More than a conventional indoor display, the show is an experience that takes art lovers outdoors, enticing them to stroll among the heritage spots and historic lanes of Taipa Village as they explore the culture, charm and distinctive atmosphere of the district.
The exhibition dissolves the distinction between the gallery and the streetscape. Inside the gallery, visitors can explore the original artworks; a large map also shows the locations of the artists’ outdoor installations. Eye-catching banners are strategically placed throughout the village, each highlighting an artist’s profile and creative vision. These installations, crafted using weatherproof materials and set in wooden frames, feature a colour palette inspired by the iconic pastel hues—green, yellow and orange—of the area’s heritage architecture.
By integrating art into the fabric of the community, "Walking Culture 2.0" invites visitors to embark on a journey of discovery, encouraging them to explore the village's unique charm and cultural heritage as they enjoy a leisurely stroll, and connecting the outdoor installations with the original artworks in the gallery.
"Bringing together 14 artists who have contributed to the cultural life of Taipa Village over the past decade, this exhibition celebrates a shared history of artistic exchange while reaffirming the village's position as a living platform for contemporary creativity," says João Ó, President of Taipa Village Cultural Association. "Collectively, the artists' works reflect the richness and plurality that have come to define Taipa Village Art Space's programme throughout the years."
Taipa Village Cultural Association continues to bring together the endeavours of local and international art talents by exhibiting a multitude of artworks in the area. This unique integrated art exhibition further cements Taipa Village's position as a leading cultural and artistic destination in Macau, and its significant contribution to the promotion of the territory's cultural and creative industries.
