Art Power Jamming-Friendship
Chapter Miniature Art work by Betty Ng

27/01/2021

Ark-Association of Macau Art (the “AAMA”) exclusively presents an art program entitled “Art Power Jamming”, under the theme of “Friendship Chapter”.  The program, which is sponsored by Macao Foundation, and supported by Creative Industries Promotion Association of St. Lazarus Church District and 10 Fantasia, features seven unique shows presented by six Macau artists (members of AAMA) with diverse backgrounds. The exhibition series will run from August 2020 until July 2021.

"Realize our inner self with artistic skills and sustain the cohesion among friends."  By engaging in art creation, we can strengthen our willpower and connect with all like-minded art lovers in the community.  Media and different forms of art act as a unique language spoken by artists.  This art program unites six individual Macau talents who will uncover their own stories with their unique “languages” for self-interpretation and feeling expression.

This exhibition series not only creates an exchange platform for different artists who embody different talents and artistic skills, but also allow the general public and tourists to appreciate their unique artworks at the show venue.   All artworks embrace the same goal – that is to express the vitality of art.

Exhibition Concept

“I was always fascinated by microscopic objects. Wondering how these tiny realistic objects are made, I would glue my eyes on these miniatures, studying the beauty and structures in them.

I then started to learn clay art in my spare time. Utilizing paint and tools on clay, I can make highly realistic food and flower miniature artwork. Learning continuously, I also studied the artwork from different miniature artists on the Internet, and also attended exhibitions in Hong Kong and Taiwan. I have come across a miniature art reference book. There were a lot of refined miniature artworks in the book, with full illustrations of the making process. The materials were found in our everyday discarded matters, such as toothpaste tube caps, wrapping paper, foam boards, drinking straws, etc. It really attracted me to how these garbage were upcycled and turned into artwork. Honestly, most of the artist’s miniature artworks were made out of discarded materials. Actually you would not know that specific rubbish bin were made from hand cream caps or that specific perfume bottle from some random beads if the artist did not disclose his making secrets.”

Every miniature artwork in the exhibition took Betty a lot of time and sweat, some of them were artwork learnt from different hands of art in Hong Kong. Betty hopes every person who comes to this exhibition enjoys every piece of it, and could learn a bit more about miniature art in Macau.
